Republican People's Party Chairman Özgür Özel met with the people in Balıkesir, where they became the first party after 74 years, and expressed his gratitude. Özgür Özel also visited Ahmet Akın, Mayor of Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality, in his office and said, “We have long deserved to drink Ahmet Akın's coffee. I congratulate you on the fact that you have been elected to this office with 51 percent of the people of Balıkesir, even if it is 5 years late.”
After 74 years, Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel came to Balıkesir to express his gratitude and thanks to the people of Balıkesir for winning the Metropolitan Municipality and 15 district municipalities with a record margin. Mayor of Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality Ahmet Akın and his wife Arbil Akın welcomed Chairman Özgür Özel together with Deputy Mayor Ensar Aytekin, Provincial Chairman Erden Köybaşı, Balıkesir MP Serkan Sarı, 25th and 26th Term Balıkesir MP and Party Assembly Member Mehmet Tüm. Chairman Özgür Özel took a tour of the city with his delegation and Mayor Ahmet Akın and then visited CHP Balıkesir Provincial Chairmanship, which he calls his family home, and met with his party members. Immediately afterwards, Özgür Özel met with the people of Balıkesir in front of Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality and expressed his gratitude for making CHP the first party after 47 years in the country and 74 years in Balıkesir.
BALIKESİR WILL MEET WITH FAIR AND SUCCESSFUL SERVICES
Özgür Özel was greeted with a flood of love by the citizens and then visited Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Akın in his office. Signing the Book of Honor, Özgür Özel said, “I am proud that we have brought our party to local power after 74 years in Balıkesir, the symbol city of the Kuvayi Milliye (National Forces), which lit the fire of resistance after the occupation of Izmir and organized 5 different congresses. The valiant sons of Balıkesir, who fired both the first and the last bullet against the enemy, entrusted this heroic city to the Republican People's Party, the founding will of the Republic of Türkiye, and Ahmet Akın. We firmly believe that we will bring fair and successful services to Balıkesir, which brings the Aegean and Marmara, blue and green together with its fertile lands.”
Stating that they are working in full harmony with the deputies, provincial presidency and district municipalities in Balıkesir, Mayor Ahmet Akın said that they will do their best to bring CHP to power in Balıkesir and expressed his satisfaction for their visit.
“IT WAS A SUCCESS WE PREPARED FOR AND DESERVED”
Emphasizing that they had already deserved to come to the Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality Office and visited Ahmet Akın, Chairman Özgür Özel said, “I congratulate you for taking this office with the countenance of 51 percent of the people of Balıkesir, even though it was 5 years late. Ahmet Akın and I served in the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye for 9 years in a row. This was a success we had prepared for a long time and deserved. I counted what he did in 100 days. Despite taking over one of the top 5 municipalities with the highest debt in Türkiye, a considerable amount of work has been done. From infrastructure works to asphalt to agricultural irrigation, extremely important works have been done and started.” and stated that Mayor Ahmet Akın has shown a successful progress.
'YAKIN KART' (CLOSE CARD) WAS LAUNCHED
Mayor Ahmet Akın presented Özgür Özel with the number 1 card of the ''Yakın Kart'', one of his election promises. Özgür Özel stated that the 'Yakın Kart', which can be easily used by citizens in need like a credit card, will be implemented in all CHP municipalities: “It describes us very well. These cards will be the same in all our municipalities in October-November and will have a special local design on one side. I would like to say that I found the first locally designed card very successful. It will be used for internet shopping like a real credit card. This card is an expression that Ahmet Akın will work more closely than previous municipalities. It will not end the problems, but it will alleviate them to some extent. This card will build a bridge between the people and the CHP through publicist municipalism. And this bridge will carry the CHP to victory. The problems of pensioners, tradesmen, farmers, students, minimum wage earners will be solved under the CHP government.”
THE FIRST GOAL IS ADOPTION
Explaining that they have started a mobilization in Balıkesir called “We Adopt, We Do Not Leave Unattended” to adopt stray animals, Mayor Ahmet Akın said, “We have 2,500 animals in our 2 shelters, both cats and dogs. Our first goal is to adopt them. In 5 days, we adopted 270 animal friends. We also created a website about this; https://candostlar.balikesir.bel.tr/. There was a great interest from here. We provide food and veterinary support to our citizens who adopt them.”
THEY WILL ADOPT A CAT FROM BALIKESİR FOR THE GENERAL HEADQUARTERS
Stating that they wanted to adopt a cat from the Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality Shelters for the Republican People's Party General Headquarters, Chairman Özgür Özel said, “A massacre law was almost passed in the parliament, but it was prevented thanks to the CHP and the deputies of the opposition parties. Now there is a veiled massacre law. They give the obligation to the municipalities but do not give money or create resources. In other words, they say get rid of it where the eye can't see. Our municipalities will not do such a job. Our people need to support us. Our municipalities will collect, sterilize and adopt them.”
